Kaylee is a powerhouse on the course with some impressive personal bests: 2:32 in the 800m, 5:32 in the mile, and a blazing 19:25 in the 5k, all in her 7th grade year. Her favorite event? The 5k—because it’s that perfect balance of distance and speed where she feels she can truly shine.
This season (now in 8th grade), Kaylee has her sights set high with a goal of becoming an All-American at AAU Nationals. But her proudest achievements so far aren’t just about times or medals—they’re about toughness. Whether it’s pushing through miserable weather or racing at Adidas Nationals while battling food poisoning, Kaylee has proven she won’t let anything stop her.
Her secret strength as a runner is mental toughness: “I don’t let bad conditions or distractions get in the way of improving.” That determination shows every time she toes the line. And while the race itself is tough, her favorite part is crossing the finish—soaking in the feeling of accomplishment after doing something most people never attempt.
When asked for advice for new runners, Kaylee doesn’t sugarcoat it: “Success is built out of pain and effort. If you want to get better, you need to hate being bad or losing.” Words to live—and run—by.
Outside of running, Kaylee is just as creative and passionate. She’s a talented artist, loves diving into good books, and has a special flair for fun. Her go-to pre-race meal? A Chipotle or Qdoba burrito. Post-race? A Starbucks treat that “always hits the spot.” She rocks the ChicknLegs Animal Crackers design with pride, of course.
When it comes to memories with EDT, the Washburn trip stands out: a weekend full of laughter and silliness right up until it was time to race—then it was game face on. For Kaylee, the best part of being on the team is traveling, competing, and sharing the journey with friends.
Above all, Kaylee is grateful: “Elevated is such a special part of my life. I love it for the improvements, friends, and accomplishments I’ve made. Thank you for being such amazing coaches and providing opportunities I’d never think I could have. I don’t know what I’d do without it.”
With her grit, talent, and love for the sport, Kaylee is not only an incredible athlete but also an inspiring teammate who makes Elevated better every step of the way.
