There’s a special kind of energy that Claire brings to the Elevated Distance Team — calm, focused, and quietly fierce. At just 9 years old, this 4th grader has already shown the kind of maturity and drive that set her apart. Known for her determined “grit face” when she races, Claire might be one of the quieter athletes on the team, but her presence is felt in every practice and race. She’s the kind of runner who not only pushes herself to be better but lifts up everyone around her while doing it.
Claire is known by her teammates and coaches as one of the most supportive and positive athletes on the team. She’s always cheering on others, offering words of encouragement, and spreading kindness — whether it’s before a tough workout, during a race, or celebrating teammates’ successes. That spirit, combined with her relentless drive to improve, makes her one of the most respected young leaders in the group. After every practice, she asks the same question: “What can I do on my own to improve?” — a reflection of her commitment to growth and her love for the process.
In just a year and a half with Elevated, Claire has made impressive strides across multiple distances, earning personal bests of 3:27 in the 800m, 6:37 in the 1600m, 9:20 for 2k, 13:49 for 3k, and 25:35 for 5k. Her favorite season is cross country, where she enjoys the challenge of unpredictable courses and the thrill of competing alongside her teammates. She embraces each race as an opportunity to test herself, adapting to hills, terrain, and conditions with her signature grit and focus.
Looking ahead, Claire has her sights set on breaking six minutes in the mile and going sub-13:15 at Nationals — goals that reflect her growing confidence and ambition. Her proudest achievements so far include breaking the seven-minute mile barrier and qualifying individually for Nationals in 2024, moments that show just how far her consistency and hard work have taken her.
Claire describes herself as a runner who “doesn’t give up easily,” and it shows. She loves pushing her limits and seeing the payoff from her dedication. Her advice to new runners perfectly sums up her outlook: “Try hard, never give up on your dreams, and have fun.”
When she’s not training, Claire loves spending time outdoors — hiking, camping, and exploring nature with her family. She’s a fan of the “Turtles” ChicknLegs design, enjoys a pre-race dinner of chicken and veggies, and celebrates after races with a well-earned chocolate milkshake. Her favorite memory with the team so far is cheering everyone on at Nationals, a moment that captured what she loves most about Elevated: the encouragement, inclusivity, and shared excitement for each other’s success.
Quiet yet powerful, supportive yet fiercely determined, Claire is a true example of what it means to be a great teammate and competitor. Her grit face might show how hard she’s working, but it’s her kindness, positivity, and heart that make her unforgettable.
